HACCP Training supporting Cleaning Product Manufacturers
Cleaning products present a different risk profile from food, but the need for structured hazard control is just as important. We deliver practical HACCP training tailored specifically for cleaning product manufacturers across the UK.

Why is HACCP relevant to Cleaning Product Manufacturing?
Although HACCP originated in the food sector, its structured hazard analysis approach is increasingly used within the cleaning chemical and detergent manufacturing industry to demonstrate due diligence, manage risk, and support audit compliance.
Key risks include:
- Chemical cross-contamination
- Incorrect formulation or dosing
- Raw material misidentification
- Packaging contamination or mislabelling
- Allergen contamination (in multi-product sites)
- Microbial contamination (particularly water-based disinfectants)
- COSHH-related control failures
Regulatory and compliance pressures may include:
- UK REACH requirements
- CLP labelling regulations
- COSHH compliance
- Retailer audits
- BRCGS standards (where applicable)
HACCP provides a clear, documented framework for:
- Identifying potential hazards
- Establishing critical control points
- Demonstrating due diligence
- Strengthening compliance systems
- Supporting audit readiness
Who this training is for
This training is suitable for any manufacturer of cleaning products such as detergents, washing powders, disinfectants. More specifically, it is targeted at those likely to be involved in the development and implementation of HACCP systems, including technical and quality managers, production managers and supervisors, and engineering managers and supervisors
What we offer
Unlike generic food-based HACCP, our programmes are adapted to chemical manufacturing environments. We offer a range of courses to support HACCP.
HACCP developer training: This training is for those involved in creating or maintaining HACCP plans. It is a two-day training programme which introduces the HACCP principle in the context of cleaning chemical manufacture and the actual products being manufactured, and seamlessly links to other quality management systems in operation, e.g. ISO 9001. By the end of the two-day course, all the fundamental requirements of HACCP will have been fully explored, and draft HACCP plans for at least one cleaning product will have been created.
HACCP awareness training: This training is for those involved in HACCP as part of their routine work. This one-day training programme introduces HACCP in the context of cleaning chemical manufacture and the manufacturer’s own HACCP plans. This training aims to provide HACCP awareness essential to successful HACCP implementation.
We can also offer bespoke in-house workshops supporting HACCP refresher training and HACCP auditor training.
Delivery Options
We offer flexible delivery to suit operational needs, including on-site HACCP developer training anywhere in the UK and live online training sessions.
Choosing RI as your HACCP training provider provides UK-wide, industry-specific delivery, with a strong emphasis on practical application rather than theory. The training will help to support compliance and audit readiness tailored to need.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is HACCP legally required for cleaning product manufacturers?
HACCP is not specifically mandated under cleaning product regulations, but structured hazard analysis and documented risk controls are increasingly expected during audits and compliance inspections. HACCP provides a recognised and defensible framework.
Is this suitable for small chemical manufacturers?
Yes. The course can be scaled for both SMEs and larger industrial sites.
